ABOUT PAKISTAN RENEWABLE ENERGY SUMMIT 2019

Pakistan is an emerging renewable energy market with an immense potential to grow exponentially in the years to come. The country is moving towards harnessing colossal renewable energy potential to supplement its initiatives to meet an increasing share of renewable power in the power mix to at least 30% of the installed capacity by 2030. This target is going to set a new paradigm for the energy sector in the country and will open up several investment venues for the private sector. Under the theme “Achieving 30% Renewable Energy by 2030” Pakistan Renewable Energy Summit 2019 (PRES2019) aims to bring globally renowned companies and speakers to Pakistan to share global lessons learned, innovative technology applications, financing mechanisms and best practices. One of the goals is to create awareness of the global momentum for renewable energy to advocate for the competative renewable energy market in Pakistan. In particular, this conference intends to inform the public sector about the private sector needs to develop renewable energy in Pakistan. Today, renewables are not only a competitive energy source at the utility scale but also a powerful tool to address energy access challenges in Pakistan. Moreover, net-metering at the residential level and private power purchase agreements at the industrial level are gaining ground. PRES2019 will focus on optimal solutions provided by renewables as the power sector in Pakistan has embarked upon its journey to move away from fossil fuels to environmental friendly energy.
